I founded and built HUBRYOX from the ground up because I believe the future of the internet should belong to communities, not platforms. After years of observing how creators, educators, organizations, and community leaders invest enormous effort into building audiences they ultimately do not own, I decided to create an alternative: a platform where people can own their members, content, knowledge, events, and revenue streams.
I also build communities myself. I've enjoyed growing German Learning communities and over the past months have been a tutor for more than 100 people, mostly expats in the Basel area. As part of my Critical Urbanisms studies I'm building a student community, and with Startup Hub Basel I bring founders together locally.
My background: civil engineer (Dipl.-Ing.) and real estate economist with over 20 years at international corporations and as an independent consultant, responsible for or advising on portfolios of more than CHF 3.2 bn across real estate investment, project controlling and organisational consulting. Most recently two years with the City of Bern, handling investment appraisal and portfolio planning for a municipal real estate portfolio of CHF 1.7 bn; before that, major-project controlling and IT projects from £1M to £30M. I built HUBRYOX myself.
One name, three ideas — human, growth and multiplication.
HU stands for Human. People are always at the centre of HUBRYOX — just as individuals are at the centre of every real community. Technology should support people, relationships and collaboration, not replace them.
BRYO comes from embryo — the beginning of something that can grow. Communities often start with a few people, an idea or a shared purpose. From there they develop relationships, knowledge, structures and their own identity.
X is the multiplier. When people connect, exchange knowledge and work together, their combined potential becomes greater than the contribution of one individual. People connect with people, communities with communities — and ideas, knowledge and opportunities multiply.
Human at the centre. A community that grows. Connections that multiply. HUBRYOX is built around a simple principle: technology should strengthen real communities and help their potential grow.
